Jonathan Pace is a drummer, percussionist, composer, and teacher whose talents find him working in a wide variety of situations from rock bands, musical theater productions, jazz combos, big bands, and more. He began playing music at an early age, beginning with piano, violin, and guitar, before settling on the drums at the age of 13. He graduated with honors with a Bachelor’s of Music Performance in Jazz Studies from Kennesaw State University in 2017. While attending KSU he maintained a busy freelance schedule which placed him in many unique performance situations including playing private concerts for Governor Nathan Deal at the Georgia Governor’s Mansion, for Robert Downey Jr. at Pinewood Atlanta Studios, and for Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter at the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving.
In 2018 he toured throughout the United States and Canada as the drummer for The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra, performing nearly 150 sold out concerts including notable performances with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra in Buffalo, NY, with the 1950’s doo-wop group The Diamonds, and at Yoshi’s in Oakland, CA.
In addition to playing a wide variety of genres on drum set, Pace is a skilled percussionist. As a freelance percussionist he has performed with The Patriot Brass Ensemble at Imagine Festival in Atlanta and at the Museum of Natural History in NYC, alongside Japanese Koto player Masayo Ishigure at JapanFest in Atlanta, and has appeared on TV playing drums in CW’s 2017 reboot of “Dynasty”.
In 2019 he played drum set and percussion for an off-Broadway production of Cyrano starring Peter Dinklage with music by rock band The National at Daryl Roth Theatre in New York City.
As someone who is passionate about music and nature, Jonathan feels honored to have served as a volunteer at Victor Wooten’s Center for Music and Nature in 2018 and 2019, where he had the opportunity to hang out and jam with some of the greatest musicians in the world including Chuck Rainey, Steve Bailey, Bob Franceschini, Victor Wooten, Anthony Wellington, Jeff Coffin, Jason Scheff, Eric Struthers, Mark Kibble, James Genus, Oteil Burbridge, Leigh Nash, and many others.
